Biography

Barnali went to Varanasi at the age of seventeen and completed her bachalors and masters degree with indian vocal music from Banaras Hindu University in 2003. Barnalis presentation of Khayal and thumri bears assimilation of various gharanas. It is not only thumri and khayal such forms as chaiti, kajri, hori and bhajanmarks her spirit of music. Barnali is runing her own institution in Kolkata namely Kalabati Cultural Centre. The centre provides basic and advanced level teleem in vocal music and fine arts.
