Biography
Write Up On Debabrata Banerjee Born and brought up in kolkata in an orthodox Brahmin family where dance was not a subject of adoration. Science graduate of Calcutta University and post graduate in Journalism from Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication & Management, Mumbai. Debabrata has taken an extensive training in few hundred years old Indian Classical dance tradition of Kathak in Jaipur Gharana (awarded with Senior Diploma from Prayag Sangeet Samity, Allahabad) and then joined Uday Shankar India Culture Centre as a dancer of its performing troupe. He also schooled in Uday Shankar style of dance (Creative & Contemporary) under the able guidance of Smt Amala Shankar and Guru P. Raghavan at the same time he started touring across the globe.His constant search for new content & form for his dance productions has placed him as one of the leading & innovative choreographers in the field .
