 Biography
Suchitra Rane of Mumbai created dance history by becoming the first maharashtrian Kuchipudi performer to be awarded Junior Fellowship in the field of Kuchipudi by Department of culture,Central Govt. of India. Prior to this success Suchitra achieved a similar feat by being the first maharashtrian Kuchipudi performer to be selected for scholarship in Kuchipudi by the Indian Government and by being conferred with the coveted Singar Mani title. Suchitra, 30, a merit ranker in Masters in Analytical & Medicinal Chemistry, has been involved with Kuchipudi since the tender age of 11 when she started learning this dance form from Guru Smt. Vijaya Prasad at the Kuchipudi Dance Academy in Dombivali. She was awarded certificate of Merit in 1997 for her performance in at the Kuchipudi Kala Kshetra, Kuchipudi Village in Andhra Pradesh by Guru Shri Vedantam Satyanarayan Sharma. Her performance as Shiva in Shiva-Parvati was applauded by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,
