Music

Music is one of the most fascinating art forms of human expression. Music is expressing your inner thoughts and communicating through musical notes. To the scientists, music is an art form consisting of sound and silence expressed through time. To some, it is an art of arranging sound and words in an orderly sequence. In reality, music means different to different people. Music is unique in each person's life. To a musician, music is their life. They eat, breathe, and live music. Music is their passion. For others, music is a hobby, a pastime. Music is something that arouses interest and is pleasurable. The casual fan may learn about music, how to read music, how to sing, or how to play a musical instrument, but they do not have the all encompassing passion a musician possesses. Music is a means of relaxation for some, while others simply enjoy listening to the sounds, melodies, and rhythms that music brings to their ears, minds, and hearts.

Whatever music means to you, Zingerbay is for everyone. It is a music site created by two musicians who eat and breathe music. It was designed for all kinds of musicians, dancers and listeners. If you are a singer, sing your heart out. If you dance, upload your videos, if you play an instrument, put up your work for the whole world to listen to, if you are a music educator, share your knowledge with us. All of us can work together to create something new. Come and express yourself on Zingerbay.

Many Zinger artists have requested me to help them with their singing techniques. Some have requested me to help them make better listeners. I am really honored to have this opportunity. I will try my best to share what I know. I will start with an article next week on Singing. We will go over topics like voice quality, vocal range and precautions of your vocal chords. I will talk about some breathing and singing techniques as well.

Again, so much can be said about this simple Ghazal of Ghalib. No wonder this ghazal with the short meter and a very distinct mood has been a favorite with singers. Here is my attempt at rendering to the equally catchy tune composed by our own Zinger Mr. Syeed. He has been very supportive of this project and helped tremendously with diction and overall performance. Thank you, Mr. Syeed, for all your support. What can I say about Surendra? He has always been there supporting and guiding whenever I have needed him. Every project, including creating zingerbay has been fun because of you Surendra. Thank you is not enough, so....... :D I have both the short version with four sher(Couplets)and complete Ghazal with 10 Sher availble for your listening pleasure.
