Biography

Aloka Kanungo is a rare combination of a dancer, choreographer, teacher & scholar. Khajuraho dance festival, Kalidas Samaroha, Konark dance festival Soorya Festival babylone festival, Bath Festival, Festival of India at japan are few of the prestigious festivals where Aloka performed solo. She has extensively performed at UAE, UK, Turkey, Azerbaizan, USA, Japan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, German,Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt & many other places. Her choreographies though innovative & experimental but rooted to the tradition. She combines the modern sensibilities with the rich tradition of our dance form. She has also worked with the challenged children in the production Kautuk. The noteworthy choreographies rae Sthapatya satya, Shakti maharras, Shiv Shakti & Barshar Gaan. Many of her students are the recipient of coveted nation scholarship & fellowship from Department of Culture, Government of India.
