Biography

Suvir Misra is a disciple of the Dhrupad maestro Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and Nirmalaya Dey. He is one of the few left hand practitioners of the Veena family of Indian Lute who performs on the three Veenas of Hindustani and Karnatic Tradition- the Rudra Veena, the Saraswati Veena and the Surbahar. He has been trained under various teachers including Pt. N.R.Rama Rao (Sitar), Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra (Sitar), Shri K.N.Ienger a grand disciple of Pt. Eknath Pandit (Gwalior Khayal) and Late Ustad Bandu Khan Sahib of Ajarada Gharana (Tabla). He has performed all over the country. Suvir Misra an officer from the 1993 Batch of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). He is also well versed in the art of making Rudra Veena and has also developed a Hybrid Karnatic Veena called the Misr Veena for adoption to Hindustani style. He has also experimented with the contemporary themes in pada style of singing.
