Biography

My name is Paromita Mukherjee. If there is one highly notable
fascination in my life, it is my passion for music. At the earliest
point in my life, I had grown up idolizing Asha and Lata. For this
reason, I had began dreaming of some day singing at par with both
ladies. From the young age of 7, I had always found music to be a
life-line for myself, if not my purpose for being. After completing my
studies in high school, I had started taking classes in Rabindra
Sangeet from Calcutta University, majoring in Classical Indian Music.
Coming from a family where all my siblings were "want to be" singers,
I was able to gain support and help whenever it was needed. However,
as circumstances arise after marriage, I had relocated to New York,
where I had to start my life afresh. As my husband's professional
career required him to be relocated every 3-5 years, I had moved to
many regions of the world, including U.S.A, India, Indonesia, South
Korea, canada, and finally UK which is now where I call "Home". My
biggest strength has been the moral support I had gotten from my
husband and kids, who always encouraged me to follow my dreams.

My professional achievements include my album titled "Meri Awaz Suno",
which I feel was the biggest test to prove myself. Other achievements
include two Bengali music videos I had done. One was a translation of
Kishore Da's "Kya Yehi Pyar Hai", followed by "Dil Kho Gaya". I also
had the chance of performing on stage with Sonu Nigam on more than one
ocassion. This breakthrough in my professional career enabled me to
appear on both Zee Television's SaReGaMaPa and Antakshri.
